Pelvic Mesh Lawsuits
Missouri & Illinois Pelvic Mesh Attorneys
Nearly 100,000 lawsuits have been filed by women who were injured by mesh products. For example, Johnson & Johnson, through its subsidiary Ethicon, manufactures and sells the Prolift pelvic floor repair system, made from a synthetic polypropylene mesh, which is placed inside the pelvis to restore organ support. Similarly, C.R. Bard manufactures and sells the Avaulta Plus BioSynthetic Support System.
Mesh Perforation, Erosion and Migration
These products use a synthetic mesh intended to shore up the prolapsed (fallen) organs, which can cause incontinence and other problems. In some women, the mesh cuts through the vaginal wall, increasing the risk of infection and causing pain. The mesh can also cut into nearby structures and tissues, perforating the bladder, bowel or uterus. Severe pain is often associated with these events.
